Why We Built ThriftScout: A Community for Thrift Stores, Vintage Shops & Treasure Hunting
ThriftScout was built for people who love the thrill of the hunt — from thrift stores and vintage shops to garage sales, flea markets, and hidden secondhand gems across the Lower Mainland. What started as a passion for treasure hunting turned into a growing community for thrifters, collectors, resellers, and vintage lovers across BC.

We’re thrifters. Not the “pop into a thrift store once a year” kind. We’re the “wake up early for garage sales, map out vintage shops across the Lower Mainland, and somehow squeeze in one more stop before heading home” kind.
If you know, you know.
It usually starts with one great find. Maybe it’s a vintage jacket for $10, a stack of retro Pyrex bowls, an old band tee, or some random nostalgic item you haven’t seen since childhood. There’s just something about finding an object with history — something that already lived a whole life before it found you.
That’s the spark.
And once that feeling hooks you, there’s really no going back.
For a lot of us, thrifting becomes more than shopping. It becomes the hunt. The possibility that somewhere between crowded shelves, dusty corners, flea markets, garage sales, or vintage stores is the exact thing you didn’t even know you were looking for.
Exploring Thrift Stores Across Surrey, Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, and the Lower Mainland
Garage sale season in BC especially feels like a sport. Early mornings, coffee in hand, driving across Surrey, Burnaby, Richmond, Langley, Vancouver, Coquitlam, New Westminster, and anywhere else the hunt takes you.
And when garage sale season slows down, thrift stores, consignment shops, antique malls, flea markets, swap meets, and vintage stores become the year-round fix.
The problem was… there wasn’t one place to actually find all of it.
If you wanted to discover the best thrift stores in Surrey, hidden vintage shops in Vancouver, consignment stores in Burnaby, or local flea markets and pop-up events across the Lower Mainland, you had to piece everything together through random Google searches, Instagram posts, Facebook groups, and word of mouth.
Half the time, you’d hear about a cool event after it already happened.
We kept thinking: why doesn’t this already exist?
So we built ThriftScout.
More Than a Thrift Store Directory
At its core, ThriftScout is a growing directory for thrift stores, vintage shops, consignment stores, garage sales, flea markets, swap meets, and secondhand events across the Lower Mainland.
But honestly, we want it to feel like more than just a directory.
Because thrifting is more than buying used stuff.
There’s something weirdly therapeutic about it. Life feels loud lately for pretty much everyone. Endless scrolling, stress, expensive everything. Thrifting gives your brain a break from all of it for a while. You focus on the hunt, the excitement, the curiosity.
And unlike regular shopping, you can walk away with something unique, nostalgic, or ridiculously cool without spending a fortune.
It’s the thrill of finding a hidden gem that someone else overlooked.
That little rush never really gets old.
We're building a curated and community driven Secondhand Shopping Community in the lower mainland and expanding to all of BC at some point.
We also know thrifting means different things to different people.
Some people are casual weekend thrifters. Some are hardcore vintage collectors. Some are resellers hunting for inventory. Some are decorating their homes on a budget. Some just love old things with character and history.
All of it belongs here.
That’s why ThriftScout includes more than just store listings. We’re building a community around secondhand shopping and treasure hunting in BC. We’ve added events, a treasure map, store ratings, and we’ve got a lot more planned as the community grows.
Whether you’re searching for thrift stores in the Lower Mainland, planning a weekend thrift trip through Metro Vancouver, or looking for your next favourite vintage shop, we want ThriftScout to become your home base for the hunt.
And honestly?
This is just the beginning.
